Scripture: Psalm 51 & 2 Samuel 11-22
The story of David this week begins with him being in the wrong place. He continually makes mistakes that lead him closer and closer to giving into temptation until he falls into sexual sin. Eventually David is confronted about his sins by Nathan.
Mike’s Points
When we sin we must recognize what we have done
Go to God
Move on
We need to receive God’s forgiveness
We need to live in the present (not the past or future)
Questions
-How many times have you tried to cover up dumb things that you have done? (i.e. pointing at brother when you clear broke mom’s favorite dishware)
-Did you feel guilty for doing this afterward?
-One thing that Mike talked about tonight is that we are not to feel guilty but we are to own up and move on. What are some ways you can help remind yourself to move on and receive God’s forgiveness?
-Think back to some of the recent decisions you have made. Did you choose your way (which may have been easier to do) or God’s (which is always best)?
-What are some things that you need to bring before God? Be specific, just as David was specific with God.
-Take some time to take these things before God. Be honest with Him and have a repentant heart. (repent = changing directions)
Thank God

Scripture: Psalm 3 & 2 Samuel 15:1-14
David’s son, Absalom, “stole the hearts of the men of Israel.” Their loyalties had switched from David to Absalom and David was forced to flee. He found himself without hope.
Ben’s Points:
God gives us hope
God sustains us
God brings deliverance
We must ask for help
We must have faith
- When was a time where you felt like you had no hope?
- What do you feel like the “foes” in your life are that you need hope for?
- What are three practical ways you can put your hope in God instead of in your tough circumstances?
- What do you think it means for God to sustain us?
- What is something you need to be delivered from? How do you think God will deliver you from it?
- Are you struggling with trusting God for something specific? How can you have stronger faith in this?
